Basic/Clinical Science Session
Immune Cells and Inflammatory Signaling in AKI
October 26, 2024 | 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM
Location: Room 6B, Convention Center
Session Description
Unresolved kidney injury is often associated with a dysregulated inflammatory response. The injured kidney microenvironment has a dominant role in recruiting, retaining, and activating immune cells, specifically neutrophils, macrophages, and T cells, that ultimately determine the fate of the injured kidneys. This session reviews recent advances in our understanding of the inflammatory signaling pathways in AKI.
Learning Objective(s)
- Explain the complex roles of inflammatory signaling in mediating injury and/or repair
- Describe spatial and temporal responses of immune-cell populations in the context of injury and maladaptive repair
- Identify new avenues to target immune cells and inflammatory signaling to mitigate AKI severity and progression to CKD
Learning Pathway(s)
- AKI and Critical Care
