Clinical Practice Session
AKI Management in Critically Ill Patients
October 27, 2024 | 09:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Location: Room 6B, Convention Center
Session Description
AKI is an independent risk factor for 30-day mortality among critically ill patients. This session discusses recent literature on the management of common, yet challenging, patient scenarios in the intensive care unit. These include patients who have had cardiac arrest, patients with acute liver failure, and patients with septic shock. This session includes evaluation of mean arterial pressure targets, vasopressor choices, use of dialysis for hyperammonemia, and fluid responsiveness and tolerance.
Learning Objective(s)
- Assess fluid responsiveness in critically ill patients with AKI
- Summarize the role of vasopressors in managing critically ill patients with AKI
- Discuss the management of AKI following cardiac arrest
- Outline considerations in dialysis for hyperammonemia in patients with liver disease and other conditions
Learning Pathway(s)
- AKI and Critical Care
