Kidney Week 2025: Travel Information

Getting Around in Houston

Houston, TX is services by the Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and the William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is approximately 20 miles from the George R. Brown Convention Center and is the largest international airport in Houston. William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) is approximately 7 miles from the George R. Brown Convention Center. Please see below for information regarding travel to and from the airport and getting around the city.

ASN Hotel Shuttle

ASN has arranged a shuttle between select official ASN hotels and the convention center. Please note that hotels that are considered to be walking distance from the convention center will not be serviced by the ASN shuttles. A shuttle schedule and map will be available in August 2025.

Taxi

The typical taxi fare from IAH to downtown Houston and the George R. Brown Convention Center is $50-$60 and from HOU to downtown Houston and the George R. Brown Convention Center is $30. Taxis are available 24/7 at each terminal on the arrivals level from IAH. The taxi ride to downtown Houston and the George R. Brown Convention Center typically takes 30-45 minutes. Taxis are available at HOU at Curb Zone 2 outside of the baggage claim in the lower level and typically takes 30 minutes from the HOU airport to the George R. Bron Convention Center and downtown Houston.

Uber & Lyft

Uber and Lyft are transportation services that operate similar to taxicabs. In order to use these services, you must have downloaded the phone app and set-up an account before requesting the service.

Designated "Ride App" pickup areas are located outside Baggage Claim/Arrivals Level at Terminals A, B, and C of Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).

There is a surcharge added to your fare for airport pickups; this surcharge varies based on day and time. For more specific pricing, please download the appropriate app and use the "Estimate Fare" feature.

Other Transportation

Bus: METRO Bus 102 serves the IAH airport and surrounding vicinity with multiple stops and continues to the METRO station downtown. The fare is $1.25 (cash only; the driver does not make change). Transit time to downtown runs 50 to 90 minutes. Pick up and drop off is at the METRO Bus Stop on Baggage Claim Level, south side of Terminal C.
