Educational Symposium
Ushering Renal Denervation from Trials into the Real World
October 25, 2024 | 06:45 AM - 07:45 AM
Location: Marriott Grand Ballroom 8, Marriott Marquis
Session Description
Given low rates of medication adherence and blood pressure (BP) control, additional tools to help improve BP control are greatly needed. Many more patients are interested in pursuing procedures to treat hypertension than clinicians often realize. The US Food and Drug Administration approved two renal denervation systems in November 2023. Renal denervation demonstrates safety and efficacy in carefully selected trial participants, although its real-world application in the United States remains to be seen.
Support is provided by an educational grant from Medtronic.
Learning Objective(s)
- Describe the long-term safety and effectiveness of renal denervation after trial completion
- Identify patients' perspectives on renal denervation and how this may impact shared decision making
- Explain the importance of developing a team-based care model to evaluate and follow patients undergoing renal denervation
Learning Pathway(s)
- Hypertension and Cardiorenal Disorders
