Educational Symposium
Imaging and Multidisciplinary Care in ADPKD
October 24, 2024 | 12:45 PM - 01:45 PM
Location: Marriott Grand Ballroom 4, Marriott Marquis
Session Description
The clinical diagnosis and management of ADPKD requires multidisciplinary expertise. "A picture is worth a thousand words" is an understatement when it comes to diagnosing ADPKD and distinguishing it from an increasingly recognized spectrum of more mild genetic forms of PKD. Imaging interpretation needs to be integrated with available clinical and genetic data and conveyed to patients in an understandable fashion to guide treatment and family considerations. This symposium focuses on current and upcoming methodologies for imaging-based diagnosis and prognostication in ADPKD and discusses methods for bringing together and educating a multidisciplinary care team to improve personalized care and communication to ADPKD patients.
Support is provided by an educational grant from Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc.
Learning Objective(s)
- Provide examples of how communication can be improved between radiologists and nephrologists for clearer distinction of typical vs. atypical ADPKD diagnoses
- Explain the role of radiographic imaging in ADPKD, both discussing the accepted current practices and the potential for new technologic improvement to achieve best diagnosis and prognostication
- Describe approaches to improve multidisciplinary care and communication for ADPKD patients
