Translational Session
Opportunities for Therapeutics Targeting the Glomerular Filtration Barrier
October 26, 2024 | 04:30 PM - 06:00 PM
Location: Room 6A, Convention Center
Session Description
The preeminent role of podocytes in maintaining the glomerular filtration barrier was confirmed in 1998 with the discovery of a filtration barrier gene, restricted to podocytes. We have new insights regarding communication between the cells forming the glomerular filtration barrier from two decades of research into genetics and genomics, structure-function experiments, and patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells and organoids. This session explores the current state of research developments focused on maintenance of the glomerular filtration barrier integrity and emerging questions.
Support is provided by an educational grant from Travere Therapeutics, Inc.
