Clinical Practice Session
Why Aren't We Sharing More Declined Kidney Offers with Wait-Listed Patients? Including the Celeste Castillo Lee Endowed Lectureship
October 25, 2024 | 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM
Location: Room 23, Convention Center
Session Description
An unacceptably large number of deceased donor kidney offers are received for transplant candidates and declined on their behalf, despite significant organ shortages and long waiting times. This session examines the reasons for declined deceased donor kidney offers and suggests methods to reduce the number of declined offers while maintaining or improving current allograft survival rates and the quality of life of wait-listed patients and their families.
ASN gratefully acknowledges Travere Therapeutics and several of Celeste's family members, friends, and colleagues for support of the Celeste Castillo Lee Endowed Lectureship.
