Point-of-Care Ultrasonography in Nephrology: Where Are We and Where Are We Heading?
October 26, 2024 | 04:30 PM - 06:00 PM
Location: Room 6B, Convention Center
Session Description
Point-of-care ultrasonography (POCUS) is rapidly evolving as a component of physical examination in modern medicine. Most medical schools in the United States have already incorporated basic POCUS training into their curricula, and internal medicine residencies are making efforts to catch up. Creating "me too" or "check mark" curricula to fill nephrology fellowship spots without a proper structure will potentially deteriorate the already dwindling interest in nephrology. This session, facilitated by prominent experts in the field, illuminates essential aspects of POCUS in nephrology.
Learning Objective(s)
- Describe the scope of POCUS in nephrology
- Examine the specific applications of POCUS in emerging nephrology subspecialties, with a focus on nephrocardiology and hepatonephrology
- Discuss key elements of POCUS curriculum development and identify ways to assess competency
Learning Pathway(s)
- AKI and Critical Care
