Translational Session

Gene-Targeting Therapies across Nephrology

October 26, 2024 | 04:30 PM - 06:00 PM

Location: Ballroom 20D, Convention Center

Session Description

Monogenic kidney diseases may be amenable to delivery of missing genetic components or to gene-targeting nucleic acid therapies once genetic mechanisms are known and challenges of safe and sufficient delivery of these components in the kidneys are addressed. This session provides updates in the field of gene therapy and presents findings from recent basic and clinical trials of gene-targeting therapies.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Describe the landscape of gene therapy for CKD of different etiologies
  • Discuss the possible role of gene therapy in monogenic nephrotic syndrome
  • Explain the role of microRNAs in the treatment of PKD
  • Summarize recent findings regarding gene therapy for hyperoxaluria

Learning Pathway(s)

  • Genetic Diseases and Development
  • Pediatric Nephrology
