Basic/Clinical Science Session
Updates in Chronic Interstitial Nephritis in Agricultural Communities
October 24, 2024 | 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM
Location: Room 23, Convention Center
Session Description
This session compares and contrasts the clinical manifestations of chronic interstitial nephritis in agricultural communities (CINAC), also called CKD of unknown etiology, in different regions, as well as potential environmental exposures that lead to and/or exacerbate disease in these regions. Proteomic and metabolomic platforms are discussed to understand dysregulated pathways in CINAC and physiological effects of heat stress and volume depletion on the kidneys.
Learning Objective(s)
- Compare and contrast clinical manifestations of CINAC in different regions of the world
- Describe environmental exposures implicated in CINAC in different regions of the world
- Examine the role of noninvasive biomarkers in early disease detection, including plasma and urine biomarkers and omics analyses
- Explain physiological effects of heat stress and volume depletion on the kidneys
Learning Pathway(s)
- CKD Non-Dialysis
- Kidney Biology and Physiology
