Description
Introduction
Baxter will be introducing an innovative digital health solution to support HCP needs that leverages AR technology. Baxter has developed a cutting edge digital AR-based mobile application (app) to provide users (i.e., clinicians and home patients) a virtual representation of Baxter AK 98 HD Machine and its accessories, to facilitate education and expand compliance standards of the AK 98 machine platform.
Method
The app is compatible with 3 platforms: Android and iOS devices (Fig.1) and Microsoft HoloLens 2 headset (Fig.2).
Users can employ this app for training purposes or in view of clinical trials. The intermediate developing releases of this app have been facilitated by an international team of experienced HCPS.
Results
Thanks to this app users can:
● See the AK 98 virtual representation through different angles and dimensions making use of the app’s AR functionalities;
● See the animated sequences and follow audible description illustrating how to properly set up and use AK 98;
● Repeat the sequences as many times as needed, also adjusting the animation speed;
● Navigate through the illustrated steps.
Conclusion
Currently, this app has been released for internal use only, in order to collect further feedback before its official release in HD clinics. The formal launch of this cutting-edge innovative solution is planned for the start of ASN 2021.
