Staff Liaison

Charge:

Identifying opportunities to maximize access to kidney transplantation for every American who would benefit (regardless of socioeconomic status, geography, race/ethnicity, or sex/gender), or otherwise through advocacy across federal legislative, regulatory, executive branches as well as profession-sanctioned arenas. These efforts include:

  • Developing ASN’s transplant policy priorities annually and advancing them in coordination with the ASN Council and several of the society’s committees, including:
    • ASN Policy and Advocacy Committee.
    • ASN Quality Committee.
    • ASN Health Care Justice Committee.
    • ASN Workforce and Training Committee.
  • Forming collaborative working relationships with policymakers, advocacy organizations, and other relevant entities active in shaping kidney transplant policy.
  • Supporting ASN members in understanding and implementing transplant-related policy changes in their practices, including general and transplant nephrologists.
  • Advancing the society’s vision of transforming transplant and increasing access to donor kidneys (such as through clinical, educational, workforce, or innovation-related efforts).
  •
