Sharon M. Moe, MD, FASN, Past President
Dr. Moe is the Stuart A. Kleit Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Research, Director, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension in the Department of Medicine, and Co-Director of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Moe has been actively involved in the Society for a number of years, including as ASN President in 2015 and service on the Communications, Postgraduate Education, Program, and Nominating Committees as well as the Media Relations Task Force.
Dr. Moe's research is translational and involves the study of all aspects of chronic kidney disease mineral bone disorder. She has studied the pathogenesis of vascular calcification, including laboratory investigations in vitro, in animal models, and in human studies; evaluated the role of abnormal bone in the pathogenesis of vascular calcification in animal models and humans, examined treatments to reduce fractures, and most recently examined the role of nutrition on CKD-Mineral Bone Disorder. She has also been involved in the design and conduct of clinical trials for multiple drugs to treat hyperphosphatemia and secondary hyperparathyroidism.
