Clinical Practice Session
Complement Activation in Glomerulonephritis: An Emerging Target in Multiple Diseases
October 24, 2024 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Room 6A, Convention Center
Session Description
Our understanding of the importance of complement activation in a variety of glomerular diseases has evolved in recent years. With the development of an increasing number of complement inhibitory drugs, this session presents current understanding of complement as a driver of glomerular diseases and explores how it might be exploited as a therapeutic target.
Support is provided by an educational grant from Travere Therapeutics, Inc.
Learning Objective(s)
- Explain how complement is activated, the concept of tick-over, and the role of convertases in the complement response
- Describe the broadening spectrum of glomerular diseases where complement activation is important
- Discuss the potential utility of therapeutic agents targeting complement activation in the treatment of glomerular diseases
Learning Pathway(s)
- Glomerular Diseases
