Accreditation

The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CME Mission Statement

The American Society of Nephrology’s mission related to continuing medical education emphasizes cutting edge developments in those areas of science that are relevant to nephrology, which are to be highlighted and promulgated for our basic and clinical investigators. Our educational purposes include activities addressing the needs of scientists and clinicians. Central to the continuing education of practicing nephrologists is the translation of new scientific information into useful bedside approaches to patient care and the presentation of timely, in-depth reviews covering general nephrology, hypertension, dialysis, and transplantation. Integrating science with clinical nephrology should provide patients with the highest quality of care.

Conflict of Interest and Disclosure Statement

The ASN is responsible for identifying and resolving all conflicts of interest prior to presenting any educational activity to learners to ensure that ASN CME activities promote quality and safety, are effective in improving medical practice, are based on valid content, and are independent of control from commercial interests and free of commercial bias. All faculty are instructed to provide balanced, scientifically rigorous, and evidence-based presentations.

In accordance with the disclosure policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) as well as guidelines of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), individuals who are in a position to control the content of an educational activity are required to disclose relationships with a commercial interest if (a) the relationship is financial and occurred within the past 12 months; and, (b) the individual has the opportunity to affect the content of continuing medical education with regard to that commercial interest. Disclosure information is made available to learners prior to the start of any ASN educational activity.
