Description
The Indiana O’Brien Center for Advanced Renal Microscopy and Molecular Imaging provides unique imaging services to the renal research community and serves as a national resource for investigators to apply advanced imaging techniques to research in kidney biology. The services offered by the Indiana O’Brien National Resource Center include 1) providing quantitative intravital microcopy of mice and rats as well as hands-on training to encourage dissemination of intravital microscopy as an effective research tool, 2) providing quantitative, large-scale microscopy of the kidney including three-dimensional confocal tissue cytometry, CODEX multiplexed imaging, and spatial transcriptomics as individual services or in combination to help support uniquely comprehensive molecular characterizations, and 3) developing and implementing methods of tissue clearing, light-sheet microscopy and digital image analysis to expand the scale of quantitative microscopy of kidney tissues. This unique offering of multiscale/ multi-resolution strategies and state-of-the-art methods of digital image analysis helps kidney investigators realize the potential of quantitative microscopy as a tool in kidney research. The Indiana O’Brien Center offers a Pilot and Feasibility Program that provides funding and technical support to conduct pilot projects to assist early-stage investigators and attract people new to kidney research. The Indiana O’Brien Center offers annual imaging workshops that serve to identify emerging advances in imaging science applicable to kidney research and to attract outside investigators into kidney research.
