Renal Week 2008 Information

Abstract Submission Deadline: Late-Breaking Clinical Trials

For the first time, ASN is soliciting abstracts for late-breaking clinical trials.  All accepted abstracts will be presented as oral presentations in a special symposium during Renal Week.  Accepted abstracts will also be published online and in the November issue of the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (CJASN).   ASN will only consider abstracts that describe the results of late-breaking clinical trials.

Abstract submission site opens:  Monday, August 4, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. EDT.

Abstract submission deadline:  Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

ASN will notify abstract submitters of their selection status during the week of September 29, 2008.

On Monday, August 4, at 9:00 a.m. EDT, please click here to submit an abstract.

There is a fee of $55 for each submitted late-breaking clinical trial abstract.

Call for Informational Posters

The ASN Program Committee is again soliciting abstracts (300 words or fewer) that contain information about ongoing clinical trials or research services available in core facilities at academic institutions. These abstracts will be displayed in informational poster sessions during the ASN Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA. Submitted abstracts should include a brief background; study goals, hypotheses, or description of available core services; trial inclusion/exclusion recruitment criteria, if appropriate, and funding agency. The purpose of these abstracts is to stimulate enrollment in clinical trials and increase utilization of research core facilities. Please do not submit abstracts describing results of clinical studies. Preference will be given to studies and resources supported by government and non-profit agencies. Abstracts should be submitted to education@asn-online.org no later than Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. These abstracts will be reviewed and decision for inclusion made no later than Monday, September 15, 2008.

Renal Week 2008 Housing & Registration

By clicking on the above link, you can also reserve housing online and view hotel imformation, including a hotel map. Renal Week 2008 housing availability near the Philadelphia Convention Center is less expansive than availability offered previously in San Diego and San Francisco.  If you have not completed your ASN registration and housing arrangements, please do so today.  Also, ASN has reserved a massive housing block among Philadelphia hotels and negotiated discounted rates, so please coordinate your housing arrangements through the Society.

Absentee Voting

The 2008 US presidential election will take place Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Due to potential timing conflicts with Renal Week 2008, ASN encourages US voters to consider acquiring an absentee ballot, in the event that you are unable to vote in your home precinct.

What is absentee voting, and how do you do it?

If you can’t make it to the polls, you may be qualified to vote absentee.  Absentee voting is conducted by mail, and sometimes in person, prior to Election Day. To find out if this option is available in your state, please contact your state government, or print your ballot using this third-party voter registration website.
