Special Needs

FM transmission will be available for the hearing impaired in some meeting session rooms. Please indicate your need for this service and identify any other special needs you may have on the registration form found on the ASN website.

Audio/Video Recordings for Sale

All Plenary Sessions, Basic and Clinical Science Symposia, and Clinical Nephrology Conferences will be audio recorded, provided speakers have granted permission. Additionally, select Early Programs will also be available on audio recording. Stateof- the-Art lecture video recordings will be available for purchase. To order, visit the audio/video recording sales desk located in the Hall A Foyer of the San Diego Convention Center.

Travel Agency

Travel Corporate is the preferred travel agency for Renal Week 2009. Contact Travel Corporate today and receive ASN-negotiated air and car rental discounts. Shuttle Services

Complimentary shuttle service will be available Tuesday, October 27 - Sunday, November 1 between the San Diego Convention Center and all participating hotels except the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina, Manchester Grand Hyatt, Omni, Hard Rock Hotel, Marriott Gaslamp, Hilton Gaslamp, Hilton San Diego Bayfront in front of Omni, Hotel Solamar, Horton Grand and Embassy Suites—these hotels are in easy walking distance of the San Diego Convention Center and ASN headquarter hotels.

Child Care Options

The ASN has obtained the name of child-care providers used by several hotels in San Diego to provide in-room child-care services. The ASN makes no endorsement of these providers and accepts no liability should you employ their services. Please Note: Children under 12 years of age are not permitted in any ASN meeting or session room, poster session, or the Scientific Exposition Hall at any time.

Baggage and Coat Check

A baggage and coat check area will be available Tuesday, October 27 to Sunday, November 1 for those participants who may be going to the airport immediately after meetings and prefer to bring their bags with them to the convention center or want to check their coats. The baggage and coat check will be set up inside the San Diego Convention Center in the Hall A Foyer and participants will be charged $2 .00 per item. Please refer to the signs for specific hours.

Bags, Inc.

Additionally, if participants are bringing bags to the convention center on your day of departure, they may wish to employ the services of Bags, Inc. The San Diego Convention Center, in partnership with Bags, Inc. offers an advanced airport check-in program with Alaska, American, Continental, Delta, JetBlue and United Airlines . Take advantage of this flight check-in service by visiting Bags, Inc. in lobby A of the convention center. For a $10 per person fee, you can obtain a boarding pass and check up to two bags for your return flight, saving you time and eliminating the check-in lines at the airport. Standard baggage policies for each airline will apply.

Cyber Center

ASN is committed to providing attendees the latest in internet technology by offering an interactive Cyber Center. The Cyber Center will give attendees full Internet capability allowing access to personal email. Internet access will be on a time limited basis. The Cyber Center for Renal Week 2009 will be located in the Scientific Exposition (Halls A/B/C) in the San Diego Convention Center.

Additionally, Wi-Fi access is available Tuesday, October 27 through Sunday, November 1 in the lobbies, hallways, and meeting rooms of ASN's Renal Week sessions. Wi-Fi access is also available at the Wi-Fi Hot Spot located in the Scientific Exposition Hall.

Housing Desk

The San Diego Convention and Visitor's Bureau welcomes you to its city and hopes you enjoy your stay. If you have any issues or concerns that arise regarding your hotel reservation, please feel free to stop by the housing desk. The housing desk is located in the Hall D Foyer near registration and will be open Tuesday, October 27 through Saturday, October 31. The local phone number (October 27-31 only) is 619-525-6261.

Lost and Found

Lost and found items will be turned into the San Diego Convention Center’s Security Department. If you have lost or found an item, please use one of the many white house phones located throughout the lobby areas of the convention center to contact guest services directly by dialing extension 5490. Security personnel will provide you with further instructions.

Safety

The Professional Convention Management Association has developed the following list of safety recommendations for convention participants:

  • DO NOT WEAR YOUR BADGE or openly carry convention material with you
  • outside the hotel or convention center. Obvious conventioneers are prime targets for thieves.
  • Do not display large amounts of cash when tipping or paying for taxis.
  • Use all locking devices on your door when you are in your hotel room.
  • Take a taxi or shuttle bus if the streets around the hotel are deserted.
  • Walk with another person whenever possible, particularly at night.
  • Remain alert at all times, especially in crowded areas.

Daylight Savings Time Ends

Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour when you retire Saturday, October 31, because daylight savings time ends Sunday, November 1, 2009.
