In-Depth Nephrology Course
An in-depth nephrology course is defined as a one or two day educational activity that is focused on a specific area of nephrology e.g., CKD, interventional, pathology, basic research, and others. These courses are similar to an “intensive” treatment of a particular focused area of the field and are designed to address the subject in-depth. The target audience may be the general nephrologist; the sub-specialist nephrologist; or the investigator.
Special Session
A special session is defined as a two-hour educational activity that falls outside of the description of a clinical nephrology conference or a basic science and clinical science symposium (see definitions above). The focus of a special session if to update or highlight recent advances or report current data /information related to kidney disease that is of interest to nephrologists. An example of a special session is the United States Renal Data System (USRDS) update or the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) update.
