This course is a one day symposium relating to renal transplant management. The conference focuses on pre-transplant issues such as renal allocation policy, management of sensitized patients, and transplanting patients with peripheral vascular disease. The conference will also provide an update on important post-transplant issues including the management of post transplant complications like diabetes, hypertension, and infections. We also provide an update on live donor transplants, pre-transplant bariatric surgery for morbidly obese patients and the role of concomitant bone marrow transplantation and induction of tolerance.
Abdominal organ transplantation at Duke University is committed to the patients and physicians we serve. We not only strive to improve patient's health, and quality of life but also foster the very best in medical education and biomedical research through leadership and innovation. Our objectives for this meeting are to educate and optimize the practice patterns of transplant physicians, nephrologists, and coordinators in the region in order to realize better outcomes for patients.
